GLP3 test system
The GLP3 is Schleich’s high-end test system for complex electrical safety and functional testing in production. Fully configurable based on the Schleich Concept: from standalone desktop to integrated multi-station test line with PL e / SIL 3 safety circuit. Protective conductor up to 200 A, insulation up to 10 kV, high voltage up to 100 kV, leakage current from mA to 1 MHz and three-phase functional tests up to 1,000 A — all in one system. Available exclusively in the Benelux through IONIO.
What is the GLP3 test system?
The GLP3 is the top model in Schleich’s GLP product line — a fully configurable, Windows-based test system for safety and functional testing of electrical products. Where the GLP2-Modular is a flexible standalone tester for fixed test programs, the GLP3 is designed for complex test benches, multi-station lines and automated production lines. The system combines all common test methods in a single enclosure and scales from a compact desktop unit to a 19″ industrial cabinet with dozens of test ports.
Test methods in the GLP3
The GLP3 combines all electrical safety and functional test methods in one system:
- Protective conductor test — up to 200 A with electronically controlled constant test current
- Insulation resistance test — up to 10 kV DC, automatic discharge after measurement
- High voltage test DC — up to 100 kV, automatic interruption when leakage current is exceeded
- High voltage test AC — up to 100 kV with controlled alternating voltage
- Leakage current test — from mA to 1 MHz, including earth leakage and enclosure leakage current per EN, UL and international standards
- Functional test single- and three-phase — current, voltage, power, cosφ, speed, vibration — up to 1,000 A for three-phase loads
The Schleich Concept: fully configurable
The GLP3 is built on the Schleich Concept: you select the required test methods from an extensive pool and have them integrated into one compact modular enclosure. The enclosure form adapts to the scope of the test task — compact desktop unit, 19″ plug-in unit, 19″ container or full 19″ industrial cabinet. Up to 500 programmable test connections and switching matrices for all test methods are available. Multi-station configurations with up to 50 test stations are achievable.
Safety and process reliability
The GLP3 meets PL e (Performance Level e), SIL 3 and Cat. 4 safety circuits per EN 50191. Dual-channel safety inputs, external emergency stop, connection to light curtains and warning lamp circuits are standard integrations. Automatic discharge of the test object after every high-voltage or insulation test is built in.
Software and data management
The GLP3 runs on Microsoft Windows 10 with an industrial PC and SQL or ACCESS database. Features include:
- Powerful test plan editor with plausibility checks
- Automatic logbook and version history of test plans
- User management with access levels (operator / setup engineer)
- Integrated statistics: trend analysis, Gaussian distribution, FPY
- Central storage of millions of test plans and results on SQL Server
- Integration with ERP, MES, PPS and CAQ systems
- Traceability of test components via barcode, RFID and serial number
- Freely configurable label printers (thermal transfer)
- Remote maintenance and remote calibration via external access
Communication and automation
The GLP3 offers extensive interfaces for integration into automated production lines: USB, RS232, LAN/Ethernet, CAN bus, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherCAT, DeviceNet and digital I/O. PLC communication is bidirectional: send test plans and parameters in, read back qualitative and quantitative results. Direct integration with robots, camera systems and conveyor systems is standard in Schleich project deliveries.
Applications
The GLP3 has been deployed for:
- Run-in test benches for white goods (washing machines, refrigerators) per EN 60335
- Safety and functional tests for luminaires and lighting systems per EN 60598
- Testers for power strips and socket outlets per VDE 0620 / IEC 884-1
- Fully automated test systems for frequency converters
- Cable tests: continuity, interruption and reversal
- Tests of complex electronic assemblies and power supplies
GLP3 versus GLP2-Modular
The GLP2-Modular is the flexible standalone safety tester for production lines with fixed test programs. The GLP3 is the choice when you need complex test benches, multi-station setups, extensive automation integration or test specifications beyond the capabilities of the GLP2-Modular. Both systems are available exclusively in the Benelux through IONIO.
