GLP1-g EN 60598-1 luminaires
The GLP1-g luminaire tester is specifically configured for testing luminaires in accordance with EN 60598-1. With earth resistance measurement up to 30 A, insulation resistance measurement up to 1,000 V and functional test in one compact device, you can quickly and reliably verify whether luminaires are safe for use.
Available in 4 configurations — from basic test (PE + ISO + FCT) to full configuration with high voltage AC or DC up to 6 kV. Suitable for UL, DEKRA, ENEC and IEC certifications.
Luminaire tester in accordance with EN 60598-1
The GLP1-g luminaire tester is specifically configured for manufacturers and test laboratories that test luminaires according to EN 60598-1 and related standards. The compact instrument combines earth resistance measurement, insulation resistance measurement and functional test in one device — exactly the test methods required by the standard for the electrical safety of luminaires.
Thanks to the intuitive 5″ touchscreen, automatic test method switching and the ability to store up to 1,000 test sequences, the GLP1-g is equally suitable for manual piece testing in the laboratory and for semi-automatic series production.
Applications
- Luminaire production — end-of-line testing in accordance with EN 60598-1 for earth resistance, insulation resistance and functional power consumption
- LED lighting and drivers — safety testing of LED modules, drivers and complete luminaires including functional test on current consumption
- Test laboratories — type testing and routine testing for UL, DEKRA, ENEC and IEC certifications
- Emergency lighting — PE resistance measurement and insulation test on emergency luminaires
- Outdoor lighting and IP-rated luminaires — dielectric strength test with high voltage AC or DC (configurations 1520, 1530 and 1720)
- Incoming inspection — quick verification of purchased luminaires and components for electrical safety
Test methods according to EN 60598-1
Protective earth resistance (PE)
The PE test verifies that the earth resistance of class I luminaires is below the prescribed limit value. This ensures that in the event of a leakage current, it is safely conducted to earth.
- Test connections: PE and metal parts of the luminaire
- Test voltage: 6 or 12 V
- Test current: 10 or 30 A
- Limit value: < 0.1 Ohm (maximum 0.7 Ohm per standard)
Insulation resistance (ISO)
The insulation test measures the ohmic resistance of the insulation and applies to both class I and class II luminaires. The measured value must exceed the established standard value.
- Test connections: L and N short-circuited vs. PE (alternative: L/N vs. probe)
- Test voltage: 500 V DC (adjustable 100–1,000 V)
- Limit value: > 2 MOhm
Functional test (FCT)
The functional test verifies that the luminaire operates correctly by measuring the current consumption under operating voltage. This detects defective components, poor connections and abnormal power consumption.
- Test voltage: 12–260 V AC
- Measurement range: 0.001–5 A
- Measurement: current in mA or A
High voltage test AC/DC (optional)
For luminaires that require a dielectric strength test (e.g. outdoor lighting, IP-rated luminaires), configurations with HV AC up to 6 kV or HV DC up to 4 kV are available.
Available configurations
- GLP1-g 1320 — PE (1–30 A) + ISO (100–1,000 V) + FCT (12–250 V, 0.001–5 A)
- GLP1-g 1520 — PE + ISO + HV AC (0–6 kV, 3 mA safety current) + FCT
- GLP1-g 1530 — PE + ISO + HV AC (0–6 kV, 100 mA) + FCT
- GLP1-g 1720 — PE + ISO + HV DC (0–4 kV, 3 mA) + FCT
All configurations are suitable for certifications according to UL, DEKRA, ENEC and IEC.
