CIBRE‑L3 Serie –3 Contact circuit breaker timing tester
The CIBRE-L3 is a compact circuit breaker timer for measuring contact timing of circuit breakers with 3 independent contact inputs. You perform open, close, and combined switching cycles with a timing accuracy of ±0.05% rdg ± 0.1 ms — and print the report on-site via the integrated 2.25″ thermal printer. The robust IP67 case and optional Li-ion battery make the CIBRE-L3 suitable for commissioning, periodic inspection, and FAT, even without mains power.
Applications
- Commissioning of new circuit breakers: document contact timing before energisation
- Periodic inspection of HV/MV breakers (IEC 62271-100): detect deviations in open and close times
- Factory Acceptance Test (FAT): verify contact timing at factory delivery
- Field maintenance without mains power: Li-ion battery option for substations and outdoor cabinets
- Analysis of O, C, O-C, C-O, and O-C-O cycles including resistive contacts (20–5000 Ω range)
- On-site reporting: print report immediately after measurement and export via USB to PC
- Quality assurance: store results in memory (up to 200 records) for audits and documentation
- Condition monitoring: compare open times across multiple inspections to detect wear over time

When to choose CIBRE-L6?
The CIBRE-L3 has 3 contact inputs and is suitable for single-phase breakers and smaller applications. For simultaneous measurement of all three phases of a three-phase circuit breaker — without re-connecting between phases — choose the CIBRE-L6 with 6 contact channels.

Frequently asked questions
Which standards does the CIBRE-L3 cover?
The CIBRE-L3 is suitable for contact timing measurements in accordance with IEC 62271-100 and IEEE C37.09. For specific standards advice, we refer you to a qualified inspection authority.
Can I measure resistive contacts alongside main contacts?
Yes. The resistive contact detection range is 20–5000 Ω. The L3 measures 3 contact channels simultaneously, including resistive contacts.
Does the CIBRE-L3 operate without mains power?
Yes, with the optional Li-ion battery (14.4 V, 3.45 Ah). These are the CIBRE-L3B and CIBRE-L3B BLUE models.
Which software is used for reporting?
The CIBRE-L3 works with DMP software from HighTest. Free after registering on our training platform.
What is the calibration interval?
IONIO recommends a 12-month calibration interval. Your system is registered in our ERP and you receive an automatic reminder 6 weeks before expiry.
Difference between CIBRE-L3 and CIBRE-L6?
The L3 has 3 contact inputs for single-phase and smaller breakers. The L6 has 6 contact inputs for simultaneous measurement of all three phases of a three-phase circuit breaker.
