DC kilovolt meter up to 25 kV
The KV25R is a digital DC kilovoltmeter for safe and accurate measurement of direct voltages up to 25 kV. The high input impedance of 20 GΩ minimises loading on the circuit under test — essential in high-voltage testing and laboratory work. Measurement accuracy ±0.5% of reading, graphical display, built-in LFP battery and IP54 protection. Available exclusively in the Benelux through IONIO.
When do you use a DC kilovoltmeter?
In high-voltage tests — HV DC insulation tests, capacitor charge tests, high-voltage power supply tests and calibration of high-voltage test equipment — you need a voltmeter that barely influences the circuit being measured. The KV25R has an input impedance of 20 GΩ (with a capacitance below 50 pF), making the current drawn from the circuit negligible. This makes it indispensable in high-voltage laboratories, test setups and maintenance work on high-voltage installations.
Measurement range and resolution
The KV25R measures direct voltage up to 25 kV DC across three automatic ranges:
- 0.0 V – 249.9 V — resolution 100 mV
- 0.250 kV – 2.499 kV — resolution 1 V
- 2.50 kV – 25.00 kV — resolution 10 V
Measurement accuracy is ±0.5% of the measured value ±2 digits — sufficient for verification and quality control in production and laboratory processes.
Safety category and standards
The KV25R is certified to IEC 61010-1 for overvoltage protection CAT IV – 1000 V. Electrostatic immunity is tested to IEC 61000-4-2, electromagnetic radiation immunity to IEC 61000-4-3. These are the relevant standards for measurement equipment used in and around high-voltage environments.
Display, hold and filter
The graphical display has a resolution of 128 × 64 pixels with backlight, making readings clearly visible even in poorly lit conditions. The hold function freezes the measurement on screen — useful at hard-to-reach measurement points. The built-in measurement filter suppresses interference and stabilises the reading with fluctuating voltages.
Battery and autonomy
The KV25R is equipped with a built-in LFP battery (LiFePO₄) of 12 V / 6000 mAh. LFP technology has three advantages over standard lithium batteries:
- Long service life — expected lifetime of 2000 charge/discharge cycles
- Low self-discharge — the instrument retains its charge even during extended storage
- Safety — thermally and chemically stable, significantly safer than other lithium technologies
Charged via the included AC adapter (12 V / 2 A). Auto power-off prevents unnecessary battery drain.
Ruggedness and portability
With IP54 protection (lid closed), the KV25R is resistant to dust ingress and water splashing — suitable for use in the workshop and in the field. The instrument weighs approximately 2.6 kg and measures 274 × 250 × 124 mm. A carrying bag is included as standard.
