Junction boxes are indispensable in the construction industry. They are used as temporary power supplies on construction sites and are needed to regulate and distribute power. It is therefore very important that these cabinets are safe and comply with appropriate standards and guidelines. To ensure this, stray cabinets are tested with various tests, including earthing measurements, high-voltage tests, insulation resistance measurements, passage measurements, rotational direction measurements and checking of earth leakage switches.
Testing stray cabinets usually takes a long time. The many connections and diversity of connectors is a complex and time-consuming process.
The earthing measurement is carried out to check that the earthing connections have a low and correct resistance. The protective conductor resistance is usually adjustable with a measurement current of adjustable from 1…. 30A AC
In the high-voltage test, the stray box is subjected to a high voltage to check whether the breakdown resistance is OK.
The insulation resistance measurement looks at whether the stray cabinet is properly insulated. This involves looking at the insulation resistance between the various parts of the cabinet and the earthing point. This is important because poor insulation can lead to dangerous situations, such as short circuits.
The throughput measurement checks that the connections are in order and correctly connected and that there are no interruptions in the cabling.
The rotation direction measurement checks whether the stray box has the correct direction of rotation. This is important because an incorrect direction of rotation can lead to unsafe situations and malfunctions.
Finally, the stray box is also tested with an earth leakage circuit breaker test. A functional test for earth leakage switches type A, B, B+, AC and F with 10 mA, 30 mA, 100 mA, 300 mA, 500 mA, 1 A follows as the last measurement. The function test includes measuring the tripping current and the tripping time.
All these tests ensure that stray cabinets are safe and reliable and comply with the appropriate standards and guidelines. This allows construction companies to work safely and avoid dangerous situations.
With our GLP2-Modular, this process can be simplified resulting in time savings!
Using the GLP2-Modular test system, one can perform the following measurements
The various measurements are fully automatic, no operator intervention is required!
After the above measurement, the system will print a label with the desired information such as an order number, date, etc. After the measurement, the GLP2-Modular generates a CSV file of all measurement data for traceability.
