Universal electric motor tester

The MotorAnalyzer 1 is a universal tester for diagnosing electric motors, generators, transformers and wound components. The device combines 10 test methods in one compact, portable system — from surge tests and resistance measurements to high voltage and insulation tests.

Thanks to the built-in rechargeable battery, you can also test on-site without a mains connection. This makes the MotorAnalyzer 1 the ideal entry-level model for motor service, repair workshops and maintenance teams who need fast and reliable measurements — even in hard-to-reach positions such as cranes or industrial installations.

Using the user-friendly AutoTest function, the MotorAnalyzer automatically analyses the motor on surge test, resistance, insulation resistance and inductance. The result is displayed directly on the graphic display with a clear pass/fail assessment.

PrintCom reporting software

The MotorAnalyzer 1 comes with PrintCom PC software included free of charge. Transfer test results to your PC via USB or RS-232, save them in Excel format and print professional test reports — including your own company logo.

PrintCom works in online mode (directly connected during testing) and offline mode (read results from internal memory at a later time). Via a network path, test reports can also be stored centrally — ideal for ISO 9001-compliant production.

When to choose MotorAnalyzer 1, 3 or MTC2/MTC3?

The MotorAnalyzer 1 is the entry-level model: 10 test methods, compact, battery-powered, ideal for service and maintenance. For more extensive diagnostics with 17 test methods, surge tests up to 6 kV and advanced PD analysis, the MotorAnalyzer 3 is the better choice. For production environments with automatic test sequences, relay matrices and production line integration, the MTC2 R7 and MTC3 are the professional solution.

Surgetest

For the Surge test, the MotorAnalyzer generates a Surge with a low voltage. Through the comparison of the windings with each other, it is possible to make analyses regarding the equality of the windings (short circuit).

Winding or phase errors in the winding would cause an asymmetry of the Surge. The Surge will be graphically displayed and automatically evaluated for “good/bad” via mathematical analysis, (equal to our large testers).

The testing is safe and requires no specific user knowledge.

The Surgetest can be used not only for testing the coils of a stator against each other, but also for comparison with an identical stator that has already been input before. The MotorAnalyzer is therefore suitable for small series production.

Resistance measurement

The resistance test is performed with a high test current, 1-phase, 2-phase or automatic 3-phase.
Connect the motor to the Motor Analyser – press start – and the result of the 3 resistance value is displayed.

If required, the resistance can also be evaluated automatically via +- or % programming. The test is performed using the 4-wire method.

The resistance will be calculated to a room temperature of 20 degrees. It is possible to display the actual room temperature in the tester as a value, or to measure the temperature via a temperature probe which should be ordered separately.

Earth ground testing (PE resistance)

The PE resistance test can be used for the VDE standard VDE0701/1 “Prüfung an instandgesetzten Geräten”

Here the measuring leads are connected to the machine under test, measured, the poles of the test leads are swapped and measured again. The worse of the two resistance values is the PE resistance.

High-voltage test

For the high voltage or insulation resistance and PI test, the MotorAnalyzer generates an adjustable and stable DC test voltage. This offers a very interesting alternative to the high voltage test with AC for finding insulation faults (phase or ground fault).

PI-measurement

For the PI measurement, the high voltage is connected to the object under test and the test process started. By measuring the current/resistance value at the beginning and at the end of the test, the tester displays ( after 10 minutes) the Polarisation Index.

The complete test is performed automatically.

Voltage range: 0 … 4000VDC with automatic time recording and automatic calculation of test times. Test times can be programmed before the test.

Insulation resistance test

The insulation resistance measurement can be used for testing according to various international standards, measuring the value of the insulation with respect to the housing or the phase.

Induction measurement

Via additional test probes, stators and luminaires can also be tested using the “classic” test method. Now the operator moves the test probe manually around the object to be tested.
The deviation from the previously stored reference signal is indicated by the highly sensitive
MotorAnalyzer, graphically in the form of a bar and digitally.

Neutral zone

To adjust the neutral zone on DC motors, the field and armature (the carbon brushes) are connected to the MotorAnalyzer.
Now the MotorAnalyzer graphically and digitally indicates the deviation to the neutral zone. The motor is adjusted by turning the brushes.

Rotation direction

The direction of rotation of the motor is determined using a Hall rotational field probe.

Field strength and north/south pole measurement

A special test method is the field strength test or pole sequence test of the north/south poles in the stator. For this purpose, the field strength or field sequence in the motor is measured via a probe. The probe is manually moved through the voltage-connected stator
A magnetic field sensor precisely records the field order, and in particular, the geometric position of the north/south poles in the stator.

This allows winding errors to be recognised.
Probes for standard stators and linear motors are available.

Automatic analysis

During the “automatic test”, the tester shows the test results in clear value on the display.
The MotorAnalyzer makes automatic analyses based on the surge and resistance test.

After this, the device analyses the measured values and displays the test result.
