The MPK215R high-current micro-ohmmeter is a portable, microprocessor-controlled instrument. It has optimised filters and protections for measurements in electrical substations. It can be used for the accurate measurement of very low contact resistances of high-voltage circuit breakers and switches, busbars, etc., with test currents from 5 A to 200 A. It uses the 4-terminal (U/I) measurement principle to eliminate errors caused by test leads and their contact resistances.

The MPK215R is equipped with a cooling system that allows a large number of consecutive tests without triggering the thermal protection. Under normal ambient conditions (25 °C) it can perform up to 30 consecutive tests of 1 minute duration with 1-minute intervals — the time normally spent repositioning the cables to another test point.

Measurement accuracy is guaranteed by an advanced signal-amplification system, free of offset and with excellent long-term stability. Resistance readings are shown on the alphanumeric display with a resolution of up to 4½ digits. Resistances up to 1 Ω can be measured, with a best resolution of 0.1 µΩ.

The high-current generation system uses modern technology that significantly reduces both weight (approx. 11 kg) and dimensions. The housing is made of impact- and weather-resistant plastic. Internal thermal sensors in all sensitive components prevent damage from overheating.

This is a strong yet lightweight instrument that can easily be carried by one person. It is water-resistant and can be used under harsh weather conditions (IP65 with closed lid), delivering excellent performance in both the laboratory and the field.
