Using the earthing measurement, one determines the maximum resistance of the earthing wire, various standards define a maximum ohmic value.
Poor earth connection in the product increases the risk of an unsafe situation (electric shock)
The maximum resistance will be determined with a low voltage of typically 6/24 volts AC and a high measuring current of about 10….75 amps.
Since we are dealing with low resistance, we use a 4-conductor measurement technique.
Alternative description: protective line measurement, PE measurement. Ground bound.
