The PD simulator is an advanced instrument that generates partial discharges to test partial discharge measurement systems in conjunction with Surge tests.

Operation of the PD simulator

The simulator is connected in parallel to the device under test. During the test, the system records rising peak voltage values. Once the preset limit value is reached, the simulator generates a partial discharge.

This partial discharge, a broadband pulse, is emitted and can be detected by a measurement system with antenna detection. The limit value at which the partial discharge is triggered is easily adjustable via the integrated touch screen.

Thanks to its built-in battery, the PD simulator can also be used in closed test setups. The charger is included as standard.
